The Rene Herbst Cord Chair, also known as the Sandows Chair, is just one example of the pioneering use of industrial material for which Rene Herbst was famous. For this chair, Herbst used elastic cords (we know them now as “bungee cords”) that at that time were used to wrap parcels. It was first released to the public at the Paris Salon d’Automne des Artistes Decorateurs in 1929.
